Wine Spectator 91 points - A harmonious and mouthwatering Champagne, with a lovely mix of white cherry, pastry, grated ginger and smoky mineral riding the elegant mousse. Racy finish. Drink now through 2021. 3,000 cases imported. -AN.December/2018
Wine Enthusiast 90 points - This nonvintage classic is on point with its soft, ripe style. It has just enough maturity to fill out the fruit, with hints of almond and toast. On the palate, attractive bright citrus and green apple flavors dominate..June/2017
James Suckling 90 points - Lemon pith and yellow grapefruit on the nose. Some very gentle pastry elements, too. The palate is bright, crisp and zesty with plenty of lemon and glace peach flavor. Drink now..October/2017
Decanter 90 points - One of only a handful of Champagne houses that only use the first press juices, plus an unusually high percentage of reserve wines (approximately 40%), Deutz’s Brut Classic is a high quality NV Champagne. Pain grille aromas are followed by attractive fresh apple and brioche with good intensity and finesse. Vibrant and complex, with good persistence..December/2018
I was quite impressed with the wines I tasted from Deutz. I am not sure why, but Deutz has a much lower profile than the wines deserve. The straight vintage cuvees are terrific, while the flagship wines are that, and so much more. Personally, I am a big fan of the Deutz Roses, but all of these wines deserve attention. The Deutz style is best described as classic. Although the wines could perhaps use a little more distinctiveness, they are impeccably made and absolutely delicious.
